The Loch Ness Monster is considered to be the most famous lake monster on earth, and is apart of cryptozoology's big three (along with Bigfoot and Yetis). The monster became world famous when, in July of 1933, a man named George Spicer and his wife encountered the creature while driving down a road near the loch. Ever since then, the Loch Ness Monster has became an icon, causing copycat lake monsters, such as Lake Tahoe's Tessie or Lake Erie's Bessie, and becoming a major tourist spot in Scotland.
